How to play Swipe
Swipe is a daily word game about swipe typing, the way you glide a finger across a phone keyboard instead of tapping each letter. Every day there is one hidden English word, the same for everyone, and all you get is its swipe path: a trail of light drawn over a keyboard with no letters on it.
- Read the path: it's a real thumb, so the trail cuts corners and misses the middle of the keys, and at first you don't know which end it starts from. Tap the picture to replay it.
- Guess: type any real English word of 3 to 10 letters and press Enter. Words that aren't in the list don't cost a guess.
- Compare: your guess is traced over the day's trail in a second color with a match score from 0 to 100%. Where the two trails overlap they blend, and a flare marks where yours leaves it.
- Watch out: double letters merge (BOOK traces like BOK), and a straight stretch can pass over several keys, so two words can share a shape. Only the exact word wins; a twin shows "same shape, different word".
- Hints: after your 2nd guess a flare marks where the swipe starts, after the 3rd the trail steadies through the middle of each key, after the 4th you learn how many letters it has, and after the 5th its first letter lights up on its key.
You get six guesses. Each one shows up in your share as a square: 85% or more, 60%, 30%, below that. The share never shows the path or the word.
Solve it and you land on today's board under a funny name picked for you, like Soggy Waffle, which you can change by swapping either word. Fewer guesses wins and ties go to the faster round; the clock runs from your first key. A new word and a new board start every day at midnight UTC. Your stats and streak stay on your device.
